Cream of Tomato Soup

A delicious and soothing family favourite to rustle up on those cold days.

Tinned soups can be packed with salt, so making your own and seasoning with LoSalt will help you keep your salt intake down


2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion chopped
1 garlic clove finely chopped
1 tbsp tomato purée
400g can chopped tomatoes
handful basil leaf
Season with LoSalt
600ml milk

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan, then tip in the onion and garlic.
  2. Cook until the onion has softened. Stir in the tomato purée, and LoSalt then pour in the chopped tomatoes and basil leaves, and bring up to the boil.
  3. Turn the heat down and leave to simmer for about 15 mins until thick in texture.
  4. Tip the tomato soup into a large saucepan, pour in the milk and bring to the boil (the mixture will froth, but it will go away).
  5. Gently simmer for about 5 mins until ready to serve
  6. Lovely served with crusty bread
